Bio Details
The first winner of Tyra Banks’ “America’s Next Top Model”, Adrianne Curry has propelled her career forward in ventures outside of model. At 5 feet
10 inches tall, the Joliet, Illinois native was one of the youngest competitors on the 2003 debut model reality show, her birthday being on August 6,
1982. The green-eyed, once aspiring model had a checkered path to the reality show stardom she has today.
Adrianne Curry has been very revealing publicly about her troubled past. At five years old, she was molested. Then during her teen years she was
raped, prompting her downward spiral into the cocaine, heroin, and cutting addictions. Working as a waitress prior to her “America’s Next Top Model”
appearance, Adrianne dropped out of Joliet West High School in 1999 only to go on and earn a GED. After doing so, she pursued modeling but was met
with several scam artists who take advantage of hopeful models and their finances. Fatefully in 2003, the beauty of Italian descent decided to go to
rehab specifically to rid herself of her addictions before auditioning for “America’s Next Top Model”. Adrianne’s eclectic personality—she is a huge
fan of Pink Floyd and owned a childhood pet snake—made her stand out among the other models. Her wild child ways was somewhat off-putting to the
judges on the show, but ultimately her personality ingratiated her to them and helped her win the competition.
Following her win, Adrianne did not receive the print ad campaign that was the promised reward for whoever would become the winner of the “America’s
Next Top Model” competition. Because of this, Adrianne has a very conflict-filled relationship with Tyra Banks and has publicly criticized the
established model and the show itself. Tyra has never mentioned or has ever invited Adrianne back to the show despite having invited other past show
winners. Adrianne was, however, used as a model in makeup instructional videos for the Revlon Company. After “America’s Next Top Model”, Adrianne
went on to star in the VH1 celebrity show Surreal Life in 2005. There she met her future husband, the former cast member of the Brady Bunch and 25
years her senior, Christopher Knight. The couple did their own reality show named “My Fair Brady”. On the show’s season finale in 2005,
Christopher proposed to Adrianne. They were married in 2006 and starred in “From Russia with Love”, a documentary of their trip together to
Russia.
In 2007, amid a bunch of TV guest star appearances on shows like the magician show “Mind Freak”, Adrianne made an appearance on “DIRT” with Courtney
Cox. Adrianne even continued to dabble in modeling by walking in designer Anne Bowen’s show in 2005 as well as Von Dutch’s and Jamie Pressly’s. Curry
also does modeling of sorts in publications such as Maxim as #100 on the magazine’s 2005 “Hot 100” and in nude pictures for Playboy in 2006 and 2008.
Although Adrianne has taken questionable public actions like raging against Black History Month and BET on her blog, she is also known for her
charity work with animals and cancer survivors. Adrianne has a new project named “Jack Rio” that is in production and is slated to be released in
2008.
